Hi there! I am Leah is the brain behind Busy Gals Homestead. I love to teach people how to take their homestead from hobby to business. Busy Gals Homestead includes coaching services, a blog, and an herb & essential oils shop.
I am also the owner of Leah’s Lovely Lops Rabbitry, which is where it all began. The rabbitry opened in 2009 and I started learning everything I could about marketing and business management. After some trial and error, I was able to turn what is normally a financially-draining hobby into a business that paid for my college education. The rabbits are still near and dear to my heart, but the rabbitry business has expanded into much more than I initially imagined. For that reason, I enjoy helping others experience the same success by converting their hobbies into full-fledged businesses.
I have tree tips to help you get started taking your homestead from hobby to business.
1: When learning about building your business, find someone who resonates with you. You should be so excited to for their next piece of content to come out. Just starting a business for the money won’t help you last.. Finding your passion and surrounding yourself with the people you love to learn from will feed your soul. Only then can you keep going through the heard times.
2: Keep track of all your income and expenses. This is the main way we will know if something is costing us more than it brings in. From that information, we can make changes to see a better income or call it quits and put our focus elsewhere.
3: We all have dreams, BUT do you have a vision? Dreams are this hard to reach idea in our head that we hope to get to some day, but are we honestly working to get there? Are we making every step we take count towards our dream? For most people, the answer is no. A vision is just a dream with a plan laid out behind it so you can reach your goals. I encourage you to set a vision for the long term goals and dreams. You will reach your destination so much faster then if you take the scenic rout to success.
