Why do we need an email list? That is only for the corporate world. I don’t need one…
Um sorry, nope! you need to start building an email list from day one and here is why. People will stop by your site and take a look around then leave. They might come back next week or they might not come back for months, if ever. You just lost the potential to nurture that person into a paying customer. However, if you ask for their email address you are able to contact them. You can tell them what is going on in your world and business, or just something cool you found relating to your industry.
Why would you want to do that?
Remember I talked about taking your audience on a free to paid journey? Doing so through email is one of the easiest and seamless ways to get them to know, like, and trust you. They have already taken that step by being willing to give you their email address. When they become familiar with who you are they will want to hear more about you. Once you have their attention in such a way, you can through in the occasional product for them to buy. They might not always buy your product but you just brought awareness to what you do have. They might think of you down the road or tell someone else about it.
My Favorite Email Provider.
There are many options to having an email provider. You would need to research which is the best for what you need and your budget.
Mail Chimp: The forever free plan has all you could ever want and you don’t have to pay until you reach 2000 email subscriptions.
Don’t think that you have to be online every time an email goes out from your business. That is the beauty of automation. You can schedule one email or a series of emails to go out at any given time.
You don’t have to send an email every week or even every month. However, you should be consistent enough that your audience does not forget who you are once the email comes through.
Even if you don’t do anything with them right now, at least start collecting emails. You can start sending emails once you get into the routine of running your business.
